As always Elinor was to be found in her office toiling away at the stacks of paperwork, endless emails.

Luckily she wasn’t alone. An Illumina Bagon sat in a comfortable chair, tablet in hand tapping away at some brightly colored Candy-Crush copy.

But it wasn’t the only one. Atop the chair a perky Chatterbox of a Chatot sat singing a rendition of one of Elinor’s many newfound shower songs (Thank’s Callan Young for opening her mind to new music) and yes it was using her voice. Of course, it would only be noticeable for anyone who entered the office.

Speaking off.

Callan entered the office finding Elinor mid-stretch in her office chair. Gray business suit stretched along accenting her form lightly. She finished her stretch as Callan asked his question.

“For once, I’ve got the afternoon off.” She beamed him a smile. “Do you have any meetings?” Perhaps this would be an opportunity for the two spend time together.

"Nope, that's why I'm here." Callan replies with a brief grin. He transfixes his gaze onto Elinor after briefly studying her office and the music she's listening to. "Do you want to go somewhere with me? I wanna spend some time with you."

She was taken by welcome surprise as Callan asked his question.

With a warm and bright smile, she replied. “Yeah, I would love to.” She quickly closed down whatever she had been working on, before getting up from her chair.

For a moment she was about to leave with Callan, then she realized she had forgotten something. She quickly turned to the two Pokémon as she said. “Can’t leave you two here alone.”

And so she returned them to their Pokéballs before expectantly turning to Callan and musing. “Sooo, where did you want to go?”

"I already have something set up for us." Callan replies. As Elinor withdraws both of her Pokemon back into their balls, Callan himself draws out his Gardevoir, Eurea, who bows to Elinor upon entrance. "Eurea, take us to the picnic." With a single affirmative hum, the Gardevoir clicks its fingers as a swirl of space encapsulates around the two.

By the next blink, the pair and Eurea are in an open field, somewhere in Petalburg. While winter was beginning to thaw, the flowers were blooming candescently. Today was relatively warm, but Arceus knows how long the good the weather will last.

A large picnic mat had been placed over a flattened patch of grass, trimmed briefly it seems by a Pokemon. Callan takes Elinor by hand as he leads her over, seating down with her. He had brought a few items, mainly cakes, donuts, sandwiches, and two thermos flasks of tea for them to take. "They're all store brought though, this was kind of last minute for me." Callan admits, as he leans onto a hand and grabs a sandwich.

"Do you like picnics?" Callan asks out of curiosity. "It's not something I normally do, but I figured it'd be a nice change of pace from the city for once."

Elinor’s face shone with curiosity when Callan informed her that he already had something planned.

Then he summoned a Gardevoir who bowed to her. Elinor was quick to respond with a light bow of her own. There was no reason to not show respect.

With that out of the way, Urea would teleport the pair somewhere in Petalburg.

Elinor quickly began to scan the area, but couldn’t quite recognize the location. But that didn’t stop her from noticing the picnic mat laid out over a flattened patch of grass.

Callan leads her over there. Seating himself down, and she quickly followed. A light chuckle escapes at Callan’s confession. Like Callan she is quick to grab a sandwich, with the food present her stomach was quick to tell her just how hungry she was.

“Honestly, I’ve only been on a few, but I have enjoyed those, so I guess that’s a yes. Besides, with you here I am sure to enjoy it.” Elinor admitted. Though she supposed company picnics and small private ones weren’t entirely the same.

Callan smiles weakly as Elinor replies, he is not so sure of his own company, but if she enjoyed being with him, that was more than enough. He takes her hand, sits down, and takes the other sandwich from the opened box.

He never particularly enjoyed sandwiches, mainly store-bought ones, but he used them to extend the space between his thoughts and what he needed to say. The egg mayo was a little dry, and it elicited in him the need to drink from his thermos flask.

"I wanted to talk to you Elly, about us." Callan's eyes meet hers, his face straight, calm. He had not been drinking, he made sure of this for the day. These things needed to be said, and if they were to make anything happen in the future, they'd need to have more of these. Might as well start now. "I wanted to ask you if you're happy with how we are now, or want to have something more." Callan began.

"You've been a good partner to me, even when I didn't deserve it. I was happy for your support, and your unconditional love. But I'd like to know what you want, in the future, if there is an us, or if you don't think it'll work out."

She took a small bite of the Sandwich, chewing politely upon it as Callan spoke.

Elinor didn’t even feign surprise when Callan brought the heavy subjects. Their relationship status until now had been rather loose in its definition, but it was only a matter of time before their boundaries had to be set more firmly.

“I would be lying if I said I didn’t want more.” Elinor began. “That is not to say that I don’t like what we have right now. It’s just…” She paused pondering her words and what she actually wanted for a moment.

“I won’t stay young forever. At some point I would like to settle down, start a family, have a kid or two.” She seemed thoughtful. “Not now, of course, there is still a lot of work to be done, but in the future.” She said, looking toward Callan.

“Honestly, I can see myself making that family with you.” A tension she hadn’t even noticed left her chest, as if something she had been wanting to say finally got to be said.

“But what about you? What do you want?” This would be the answer she feared to hear. She didn’t know what she would do if Callan said no, and yet some part understood that there was a high chance of that. Callan already had a family, broken as it might be, even had a kid. Why would he want another?
